In 2C & 2D: we read the story on page 20 and sang the chant about drinks on page 21. The children can finish page 19 in their activity books at home.

This week we continued with Unit 3 “I’m Hungry”. We listened to and role-played the story on page 20, and also sang the chant on page 21 to learn the language: “I like…” and “I don’t like…” Please complete page 19 in the activity book.

prosím o vyjádření na mou mailovou adresu, zda byste měli zájem o další kroužek Aj pro děti 1.-4. tříd. Probíhal by buď v pondělí 14:15-15:00 středu 13:15-14:00 nebo čtvrtek 14:15-15:00. Uvítám návrhy na vaše představy o náplni kroužku (hry a písničky pro věkový mix? Extra lesson – tedy další „klasická“ hodina pro určitou třídu?)
Své nápady a náměty posílejte na sabina.pejsarova@fzs-chlupa.cz do konce příštího týdne. Kroužek by byl pro max. 12 dětí, cena 1000,-Kč

Od 22.1. jsme na Moravské boudě v Krkonoších. Cesta byla dobrá, ke konci dobrodružná:-). Počasí nám přeje, sněhu máme dost. Ráno vykouklo i sluníčko. Dnes (pondělí) jsme již všichni jezdili na vleku. Lyžujeme a lyžujeme. Po svačině plníme úkoly. Večer pohádka a na kutě.

Dnes v úterý jsme opět lyžovali. Po večeři nám jeden z instruktorů udělal besedu o chování lyžařů na horách a teď jdeme plnit úkoly, které nám zadají paní učitelky. Zítra budeme mít trochu odpočinkový den, ale na lyže se na chvilku dostaneme. Zkusíme také stavět sněhuláky a iglů.

Ve středu jsme se probudili do nádherného počasí, které nám vydželo celý den. Dopoledne bylo odpočinkové, takže jsme místo lyží obuli sněhule a stavěli jsme iglů, koulovali se a hráli si na sněhu. Odpoledne jsme opět lyžovali. Dospělí průzkumníci se podívali na sjezdovku na Davidovkách a zítra ji půjdeme všichni vyzkoušet. Proto si teď uděláme úkoly, zazpíváme si a půjdeme na kutě. Pan správce nám slíbil krásné počasí i zítra, a proto se musíme dobře vyspinkat.

Dnešní, čtvrteční den byl tak nádherný, že jsme neměli čas na nic jiného, než se ráno nasnídat, namazat, obléct a vyrazit na lyže. Jeli jsme na Davidovky, kde jsme se za pomoci pánů vlekařů všichni naučili jezdit na rychlé pomě. Když se někomu nepovedlo vyjet až na kopec, někdo z dospělých mu vždy pomohl se vrátit a pokus opakovat. Unavení jsme z toho všichni :-). Po obědě a malém odpočinku jsme jeli znovu a jezdili až do uzavření vleku, tj.16,00 h. Večer jsme si udělali opět pár úkolů, zazpívali, umyli a šli spát. Pokud nám počasí dovolí, jdeme ráno znovu.

Dear Parents,
In grade 2 this week, we began Unit 3 “I’m Hungry”. We learned the song, “Helping Mum.” The lyrics can be found on page 46.
All students review: fish, cheese yoghurt, bread, rice and pasta.
Some students can also review these words: cereal, ice cream, banana, grapes, eggs, pear, apple, orange juice, milk, water and tea.
For all students, the homework is to do page 18 in the Activity book. Note: I like use :) and I don’t like use :(

Dear 1st and 2nd grade Parents,
I apologize for the inconsistent posts. I am having some difficulty with the website. I am working to get it right. In the meantime these are the posts that I had attempted to make on the 14th of January for the week of the 9th to the 13th .

1st grade, 9th – 13th January: This week in class we began by reviewing the vocabulary from chapter 2, and started chapter 3: Come and play! We sang along to ‘The Toy Song.“ The children also had to listen to directions on how to complete page 27.
For homework, if they haven’t finished page 27, then they should do so at home. Have them tell you what they are coloring in in English! Also, if you want to review the song with them, you can find the lyrics on page 78, please see ‘The Toy Song.“
If your child has their English portfolio at home, please send it in to school this week.
2nd grade, 9th – 13th January: This week in class the students made a book and read it in class. In 2D, we also read „The Cat in the Hat“ by Dr. Suess. We have now completed the Unit 2 test, and will be beginning Unit 3.

Dear parents and students,
Thank you so much for all your support, your notes and your farewell gifts. I’ve enjoyed teaching at Chlupova and will really miss each and everyone there. I appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication to learning, the smiles and eager faces, and being able to see the students grow. It’s been a great two years and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to teach there.
I will be thinking of you from Richmond, Virginia while I’m in graduate school there, and I hope to come back to Prague/Chlupova again soon. (I also hope you’ll come to America, too!) In the meantime, I wish the best for all of you….

Dear parents,
This week we read and acted out the Story on p. 14 in the Class Book. We also played a guessing game where the key language structure was „Is it a (robot)?“ Yes, it is/ No, it isn’t. Homework was Activity Book p. 11. (They should also still know the material from Unit 1. You can assess them here: Co mám znát?)
Next week we will be learning about Thanksgiving so if your kids would like they can dress up as Pilgrims or Indians. It’s not a requirement, though – just something fun for the kids :)
Lastly, some of you may know this already, but next week is my last week teaching at Chlupova as I’m returning to the States to pursue my Master’s of Art in Teaching. While I’m excited about being certified to teach ESL in both the Czech Republic and America, it’s very bittersweet because your kids have been wonderful and it’s truly been a pleasure teaching them.
That being said, know that I will miss teaching there and am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the school. I appreciate all your encouragement and support and I hope the best for you and your children for the future.

Dear parents,
This week we learned about trees and I read them the book, „The Giving Tree“ (or „O stromu, který dával“). I had it in both Czech and English so it was a great collaboration with the Czech teachers to read the book. (In some of my classes, we even simultaneously read it in Czech and English one page at a time. I couldn’t believe how well some of the kids could already read in both Czech and English!) :)
Here are the vocab words they should know:
-Tree, Leaves, Branches, Trunk, Roots, Bark
Extra words are: acorn, apple and grass
For homework they should complete the Tree worksheet I gave them and write „Tree“ on their paper. For advanced/extra practice… they can watch the video/sing the song „Green grass grows all around“
